For All the Kiddos Out There
When American forces commando-ed into Pakistan and put a bullet in Public Enemy #1 last May, I read an interesting thing. Following the announcement, internet search traffic shot up 10,000%. Ok, not so surprising. But of those searches, many were this question: “Who is Osama Bin Laden?”
66% of those asking were 13 to 17-year-olds.
Yes, when 9/11 happened, these 13 to 17-year-olds would have been between 3 and 7, but still – what seventh grader doesn’t know the name Bin Laden?
And while it’s tempting to rant and blame our youth’s apparent ignorance on under-financed schools, overworked teachers or some creature called Snooki, it’d be a better service to give them information.
So, Who Is Osama Bin Laden?
Next question.
